Atrium Gallery: Susan Kreig

Digital photographs by Susan Kreig are on exhibit in the Headquarters Atrium Gallery through April.

Artist's Statement:

As a photographer, my two main areas of interest are at different ends of the  movement spectrum- still life and animals. I take still life images because I love the details, and I take animal photographs because I love watching and interacting with animals.

Music on the Steps: June & July Lineup Announced!

It may feel like winter has come back for one last chilly embrace, but soon it'll be time for flip flops, cookouts, and ... Music on the Steps! The CRRL's popular summer concert series kicks off on Monday, June 1, with The Sensations playing live on the library steps.

The library's Virginiana Room and other historic research centers, sites, and organizations need volunteers. Come to the Fredericksburg Area Museum's 2009 Volunteer Job Fair on Monday, April 6, to learn more about volunteer opportunities in history and other fields such as health and human services, education, environment, and the arts. Collage Artist Joni Ulman Lewis is a dumpster diver, a flea market fiend, and a confirmed pack rat. Nostalgia and repurposing are important elements in her work. View her work through March in the Headquarters Atrium Gallery.

The 2009 Ardiena Ann Tromley Family Storytelling Series wraps up on Thursday, March 12, with performances by Megan Hicks, award-winning storyteller and former CRRL Children's librarian. Winner of the 2005 Parent's Choice Award-Silver and the 2003 Storytelling World Honor Award, Megan brings two very different shows for two very different audiences! John Cephas died at his home in Woodford, Virginia, on Wednesday, March 4, at the age of 78.
The Caroline County resident was a nationally recognized blues singer and guitarist who played many local venues with singer and harmonica player Phil Wiggins--including the summertime Music on the Steps series at the Central Rappahannock Regional Library and the Bluemont concerts.

Storyteller Kim Weitkamp Comes to the CRRL

Kim Weitkamp, recently featured in the Free Lance-Star, will perform "Laugh Out Loud Stories" for school age children and adults at Headquarters Library at 4:30, on Wednesday, March 4. See her at 7:30 that evening at Snow Branch for "Freckles, Fibs, and Family" - a performance for teens and adults, filled with humorous stories about love and lessons learned from family.
