If you enjoyed "The Giver", by Lois Lowry...
I'm so glad you are using our Book Match. I agree that the book The Giver was full of surprises and it did not have a pat ending, to say the least! I rather liked the fact that you could interpret the ending differently, depending on your point of view. Meanwhile, since you liked The Giver, here are a few titles you might like.
Locked Inside by Nancy Werlin.
After she is kidnapped from the exclusive boarding school she attends, heiress Marnie Skyedottir must rethink her idealized relationship with her mother, her own sense of who she is, and her relationships with others.
The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer.
In a future where humans despise clones, Matt enjoys special status as the young clone of El Patrón, the 142-year-old leader of a corrupt drug empire nestled between Mexico and the United States.
Hidden Talents by David Lubar.
When thirteen-year-old Martin arrives at an alternative school for misfits and problem students, he falls in with a group of boys with psychic powers and discovers something surprising about himself.
Airborn by Kenneth Oppel.
Matt Cruse is a cabin boy on the Aurora, a huge airship that sails hundreds of feet above the ocean, ferrying wealthy passengers from city to city. It is the life Matt's always wanted; convinced he's lighter than air, he imagines himself as buoyant as the hydrium gas that powers his ship. One night he meets a dying balloonist who speaks of beautiful creatures drifting through the skies. It is only after Matt meets the balloonist's granddaughter that he realizes that the man's ravings may,in fact, have been true, and that the creatures are completely real and utterly mysterious.
