 There are twelve books in the "Wild at
Heart" series by Laurie Halse Anderson and Central Rappahannock Regional
Library has eleven of them for you to check out. If you haven't already
read more in that series, you might enjoy trying one of the others.
Other books I would recommend for animal lovers and high level readers
are:

A Tarantula in My Purse by Jean Craighead George.

A collection of autobiographical stories about raising a houseful of
children and wild pets including crows, skunks, and raccoons.

If you like the Nancy Drew mysteries, here are some other mysteries you may enjoy.

The secret of the mansion / by Julie Campbell.

Thirteen-year-old Trixie Belden and her friends search for hidden
treasure in a mysterious mansion owned by an old miser. This is the
first book in the Trixie Belden mystery series.

Danger at the zoo : a Kit mystery / by Kathleen Ernst.

The first one is the sequel to Maximum Ride.

School's Out - forever by James Patterson.

Here are some titles similar to Coco Counts that I think you might like:

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr.

An alphabet rhyme/chant that relates what happens when the whole
alphabet tries to climb a coconut tree.

Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell.

Each animal arriving from the zoo as a possible pet fails to suit its
prospective owner, until just the right one is found. Movable flaps
reveal the contents of each package.

Where's Spot by Eric Hill.

If you like easy-reader books about animals, here are some picture books about animals that I think you might like:

Llama Llama Red Pajama by Anna Dewdney.
At bedtime, a little llama worries after his mother puts him to bed and
goes downstairs.

Duck in the Truck by Jez Alborough.
When Duck gets his truck stuck in the muck, he needs some help to get it
out.

If you enjoyed Fablehaven by Brandon Mull, you may want to look the sequel to that book, which is Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star by Mull. This book continues the story of Kendra and Seth as they race back to the refuge for mythical and magical creatures in order to protect it from the Society of the Evening Star, an organization trying to infiltrate the preserve and steal a hidden artifact of power.
