Book Groups Give You a Shared Reading Experience

Books + friendship = book club
—Kristin Hannah, author of The NightingaleMagic Hour, and Firefly Lane

Do you love books and want to meet others who feel the same way? CRRL sponsors several book groups that meet in our facilities. Fredericksburg, Porter, Salem Church, Cooper, Montross, Snow, and Howell branches all host book clubs. Other groups meet at places where you can enjoy libations while you discuss new and classic titles (Coffee & Books, Books & Beer, Books & Wine). You can get information on all the groups and what they are reading here.

We make it easy for book groups.

Already a book club member? Let the library help your group. We have a wide range of book club kits (Book Group in a Bag)—multiple copies of the same book that check out together for longer periods and often include discussion guides. It’s so much easier to use one of these kits rather than having each person trying to wrangle a copy for herself or himself.

Check out something new.

You’ll find some of our newest book kits here. If you’d like a change of pace, Youth Services librarian Rachel Placchetti has found ten young adult books that are "beautifully written, diverse, and eye-opening - a surefire combination for sparking book club discussions!"
