Government Island: Making of the White House and Capitol & its 300 Year History Jane Conner helped preserve Government Island as a public park reserve and archaeological site. She recounts the history of the island, the use of Aquia sandstone in some of our most important historical buildings in Washington, D.C., and the riches it holds for park visitors today.
