Community Web Guidelines

If your organization meets the following criteria as a nonprofit organization, we'll be able to offer you a set of web hosting services for free.

General Guidelines:

  • Your organization is not operating for profit.
  • It is located in and serves the people of the City of Fredericksburg and the Counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, and Westmoreland. It may serve a wider area, but should serve those communities listed.
  • CRRL Use of Computer Resources Policy.
  • Can announce events and fundraisers and list prices for small fundraiser items like cups or t-shirts, but cannot sell big-ticket items or services.
  • Cannot promote or advertise a for-profit organization.
  • Please notify us if you decide to move your site to another server or make other updates to your domain registration.

Access Requirements:

  • Computer with full Internet access (direct, modem) -- either Mac or PC platform.
  • FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program to upload files to the server
  • World Wide Web browser, such as Netscape or Internet Explorer, to view files created.
  • Ability to create a HTML document and send it to the CRRL server. If you have never created a Web page, please talk with us about how we can help, from locating volunteers to using resources at the CRRL.

What the CRRL Community Web Offers:

  • Free space on our secure Windows server
  • Visibility to the entire community (and the rest of the world) through the World Wide Web.
  • Total control over your content and the ability to update your information.
  • Tech support to you Tuesday through Thursday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
  • Regular backups of all server data.

Further Resources for HTML Creation:
