The Teen Art Show is held each year at Headquarters Library.
Students in grades 9-12, living in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Stafford and Westmoreland County are encouraged to submit their original artwork.

Audrey Bruno, Photographer, shares photographic images created on her journey of the past year and a half in this exhibition entitled “Shining Through…”, which will be on display in the Headquarters Library Atrium Gallery during the month of September.

Today, I read, "Light by itself is invisible, revealing itself only when reflected off something. God's presence is like that in some ways. Invisible. Perceived only when reflected by some object or action and striking the eye of faith. It is in God's light that we see light, for it is only when we see with eyes of faith that we recognize God's presence around us and know God as the source of that life."* Each of these images was a moment of Light, a glimmer of hope, a reminder of truth, given by grace, guiding me on my journey. I hope that you feel the Light Shining Through…

Works by the Figure Drawing Group of Fredericksburg are on display in the Headquarters Atrium Gallery through the end of July.

The Figure Drawing Group of Fredericksburg was founded on May 5, 2010 and meets every Monday night, 6:45 to 9:30pm, at Read All Over Books, 307 William Street.

The drawing session is uninstructed drawing from a live model, and open to all who love to draw in a relaxed atmosphere, at your own pace (over 18 for unclothed sessions, please). Poses range from 5 to 30 minutes.

Bring your own drawing supplies and support board or easel. Dry media only, please.
Cost is $15 for each session. Arrive on time, as the door will be locked at 7 to protect our models.

Paintings by Priscilla Young and Barbara Thelin Preston are featured in the Headquarters Library Atrium Gallery through May.

In my memories, moments of delight have involved an observation, which often occurs during an insignificant event; the emergence of a cicada from its cocoon, the motionless stance of a prayting mantis, the wild flight of horned beetles around a solitary night light from my bedroom window, or the translucent body of a small putty colored lizard in my hand.

The first decade of my life was spent in Southeast Asia where some of my most vivid images are of insects. I recall unworldly colors and shapes, and the constant background song whose volume rises and falls as the day unfolds.

My most recent watercolors are an attempt to celebrate these memories, which were triggered by visits to the Naturalist Center in Leesburg, Virginia. Currently, I have been consolidating a collection of naturally expired insects for reference in the studio.
