The Central Rappahannock Regional Library is "Cultivating Community" in 2012!
"Cultivating Community" is a community-wide program designed to share information in the Fredericksburg region about farm-to-table and sustainable food communities. Events will include a "Big Read" of Barbara Kingsolver's Animal, Vegetable, Miracle and programs at our libraries and local farmer's markets and community gardens.
September 29 - Foraging for Edible Wild Foods
Porter, 3-5 pm
Librarian Ed DeButts will present a program on safely identifying and collecting edible wild foods including morel mushrooms.
October 8 – Big Read Book Discussion: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle
Headquarters Theater, 7-9 pm
Join us for an entertaining evening with local author, Steve Watkins, as he leads us to the end of our Cultivating Community journey by moderating a discussion of Barbara Kingsolver’s best seller Animal, Vegetable, Miracle.
Watkins is a University of Mary Washington Professor Emeritus and local author of adult and young adult books.
Refreshments will be served.
Book groups may also borrow our kit of Animal, Vegetable, Miracle – it’s a Book Group in a Bag!
