- Craig Graziano
Dancing Feet is a colorful guessing game for little ones. Each page spread alternates between questions and answers of which animal might be moving and grooving on the next page.
Clues in the rhyming text and art make this a great selection for the under-five crowd. Marc Brown uses collage to show ducks, bugs, and bears dancing across the pages. Finally, the book reveals that all of the creatures are actually children, playing and using their imaginations.
Lindsey Craig's text is great for singing or making up voices while reading along. Using words like "tippity" for ladybugs or "creepity" for a caterpillar allows children to explore phonological awareness, an early literacy skill involving the discovery of sounds within words and a strong indicator of reading ability.
The book's energy and focus on colors, animals, and rhyming make it a great companion-read to Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin Jr. Craig and Brown have also written a follow-up, Farmyard Beat. If you want to have a great time reading and playing with your child, then put your Dancing Feet on!
