Hip Hop Family Tree Volume 2 by Ed Piskor

Hip Hop Family Tree Volume 2 picks up right where Ed Piskor's first phenomenal graphic novel left off. By 1981, the record industry has started to capitalize on the raw talent of urban youth. The sounds are slicker and the rhymes are tighter, but Piskor manages to find and highlight the raw edges of the musical movement.

Bunny Cakes by Rosemary Wells

You and your child can have fun while helping to break a world record!  During last year's Jumpstart's Read for the Record event, 2,462,860 participated. Jumpstart is hoping for even more readers this year, and the Central Rappahannock Regional Library is going to help them. Together on this special day, we'll celebrate literacy and support the Jumpstart organization in its efforts to promote early childhood education.

World Food Day
One of the highlights of weekly visits to the Farmers’ Market is the farmers themselves. My  husband and I enjoy catching up with Roberto, his tío Benjamin and primo Cam. When we buy microgreens we talk with John about the weather and how it affected this week’s crop of the delicate food. My niece and nephew love to join us, touching the produce and seeing new foods, such as bitter melons. Their excitement is fun, but I’m especially thrilled that they’re making a connection between the food we eat and someone’s hard work. World Food Day is a worldwide celebration drawing attention to that connection. Between October 12th - 18th, several library branches are hosting “Farms and Forks” storytimes in honor of the event and all branches are accepting canned food donations for local food banks. Here are some books about food that your family will enjoy.
