In Patchwork Loves Embroidery, Australian designer Gail Pan enjoys putting thread to fabric, and these 15 whimsical designs combine her love of both embroidery and quilting. The designs in this book make for happy stitching!
Patchwork Loves Embroidery contains patterns for wall hangings, table runners, pincushions, totes, and fabric covers for books and folders. She has a “happily ever after sewing bag” that is absolutely adorable. I love the warm colors she uses and the variegated threads.
There are patterns to keep both the beginner and experienced stitcher happy. The instructions are clear. She takes you through the embroidery process from choosing needles and thread to preparing the fabric for tracing and embroidery, and showing you the various stitches. She also has sewing and quilting instructions. She has wonderful photos of the projects and up-close shots of the stitching.
I had a hard time choosing which project to start from Patchwork Loves Embroidery since there were so many I wanted to try. I love the cottages and little birds, but I chose the flower baskets lap quilt to begin my marriage of embroidery and quilting.
