Stafford County May Get New Museum at Chatham

According to an article that appeared in the Free Lance-Star on 10/10/2009, Stafford County is working with the National Park Service to place a museum on the whole of the county's history at Chatham, a National Park Service property.

Chatham has been a focus for history in colonial times and during the Civil War. Eighteenth-century land owner William Fitzhugh entertained many of the colonial gentry there and during the Civil War the house and grounds were used by Union troops for a headquarters and hospital.

The library has books on both Chatham's history and the history of Stafford County. Check them out today to learn more about where you live.
