Staff Award: Virginia Johnson

Virginia Johnson, CRRL's Web content librarian, was awarded 1st place at the state level and 3rd place at the National level in the "Writing for the Web" category of the National Federation of Press Women's 2007 competition.

Tutor.com awarded CRRL the Live Homework Help Innovator Award

Tutor.com awarded CRRL the Live Homework Help Innovator Award in October 2006 for its unique custom-designed candy wrappers. "What do teachers need most during the school year? Chocolate! The Central Rappahannock Regional Library sends a candy bar to almost 8,000 teachers in more than 70 schools in their service area every August.

Staff Award: Donna Cote

Donna Cote, CRRL Director, was named as President 2006 of the Virginia Public Library Director's Association. The Rappahannock Mediation Center awarded Donna Cote one of the first Community Peacemaking Awards on January 25, 2006. In September, Cote was honored as a Woman of Distinction by the Commonwealth Girl Scout Council of Virginia.

Martha Baden was named Library Media Specialist of the Year 2005-2006 by the Virginia Educational Media Association.

Lena Gonzalez Berrios, a Youth Services Librarian, is serving on Capitol Choices and is the co-chair of the Multicultural Committee of the Virginia Library Association.

Virginia Press Women presented Virginia Johnson, the CRRL's Web-content librarian, with several awards in March 2006 for her powerful content writing on a variety of pieces.

Staff Award: Nelda Mohr

Nelda Mohr, Porter Branch manager, was recognized as best Rotary newsletter editor in District 7610.

Staff Award: Caroline Parr

Caroline Parr, CRRL Youth Services Coordinator, has been named to the American Library Association's Caldecott Award Committee, which is responsible for electing the artist of the most distinguished picture book in 2006.

Staff Award: Rebecca Purdy

Rebecca Purdy, Youth Services Librarian, has been named to the American Library Association's prestigious Sibert Award Committee, which selects the most distinguished information book published during 2006.
