Does My Head Look Big In This? by Randa Abdel-Fattah.

Australian 11th-grader Amal is smart, funny, outspoken, a good student, and a loyal friend. She is also a devout Muslim who decides to wear the hijab, or head covering, full-time. The story tells of her emotional and spiritual journey as she copes with a mad crush on a boy, befriends an elderly Greek neighbor, and tries to help a friend who aspires to be a lawyer but whose well-intentioned mother is trying to force her to leave school and get married.

Au Pairs: a Novel by Melissa de la Cruz.

If you liked the passion between Edward and Bella in New Moon you might
try one of these. The first three are horror or fantasy, and the last
two are just good love stories!

The Silver Kiss by Annette Curtis Klause.

A mysterious teenage boy harboring a dark secret helps Zoe come to terms
with her mother's terminal illness.

Haunted: A Tale of the Mediator by Meg Cabot.

What My Mother Doesn't Know by Sonya Sones.
Meet Sophie. She sees herself as the too-tall "Mount Everest of teenage
girls," who, along with her friends, often suffers from "lackonookie
disease." She's dating smoky, sexy Dylan, covertly chatting online with
"cybersoul"-mate Chaz, and secretly nursing a crush on sweet, geeky
Murphy. If you like this one, it has a sequel called What My Girlfriend
Doesn't Know.

The Toys Go Out by Emily Jenkins.

After reading about the book, it seems like the author does a good job of balancing the grief and sorrow that Dulcie feels with a sense of hope and humor. Based on this, I came up with some titles that I hope you will like.

Julia’s Kitchen by Brenda A. Ferber.

When her mother and younger sister are killed in a house fire, Cara struggles to find a way to deal with her emotions and to reach out to her grieving father.
