If you liked the "Wild at Heart" series...

I had fun reading a little of some of the Wild at Heart books and I can
see why you liked Homeless! There are twelve books in the "Wild at
Heart" series by Laurie Halse Anderson and Central Rappahannock Regional
Library has eleven of them for you to check out. If you haven't already
read more in that series, you might enjoy trying one of the others.
Other books I would recommend for animal lovers and high level readers
are:

A Tarantula in My Purse by Jean Craighead George.

If you like "Fablehaven" by Brandon Mull...

Since you enjoyed Fablehaven by Brandon Mull you may want to look the sequel to that book which is Fablehaven: Rise of the Evening Star by Mull. This book continues the story of Kendra and Seth as they race back to the refuge for mythical and magical creatures in order to protect it from the Society of the Evening Star, an organization trying to infiltrate the preserve and steal a hidden artifact of power.

Some more good books for you are:

If you liked "Parts" by Tedd Arnold...

I'm so glad you enjoyed the book Parts by Tedd Arnold. While I haven't
read that book, it sounds really funny! I have suggested three other
titles below that I hope you might like. In fact, the first title is
written by the same author, Tedd Arnold. Enjoy!

Even More Parts: Idioms from Head to Toe by Tedd Arnold.

If you like "Now We Are Six" by A. A. Milne...

Since you enjoyed Now We Are Six by A.A. Milne, I am including among the list of funny books, some humorous poetry as well. I hope you find some books that you will enjoy.

Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb by Al Perkins. Rhyming text describes what
can be done on a drum with hand, fingers, and thumb.

Cat Is Back At Bat by John Stadler. Fourteen rhymed verses describe
funny animals, for example, "A big pig tries a wig" and "A snake tries
to bake a cake."

If you like the Franny K. Stein series...

I’m so glad you found our Book Match Service and I hope I can make some suggestions that will work for you. There are quite a few series that have cute and sassy girls for the age range you suggest. You may already know some of these, but maybe a new one will come out. All of the titles I am including here are the first title in a series, so if one appeals you may look for more about the same character by the same author. I suggest you try the following:

I'm so glad you are using our Book Match. I agree that the book The Giver was full of surprises and it did not have a pat ending, to say the least! If you liked "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" by Jeff Kinney...

Thanks again for making a Book Match request! I had a good time finding funny books, written like Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

I’m assuming that you read Greg Heffley’s Journal, so you should definitely read the next book, Rodrick Rules, also by Jeff Kinney. In this one, Greg Heffley tells about his summer vacation and his attempts to steer clear of trouble when he returns to middle school and tries to keep his older brother Rodrick from telling everyone about Greg's most humiliating experience of the summer.
