Connect to the DMV at the Library!

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is bringing its DMV Connect program to select branches of Central Rappahannock Regional Library.

The program was developed to serve Virginians who may not be able to travel to a DMV office. You'll be able to get and renew ID cards, licenses, and learners' permits. You can also take care of titles, vehicle registrations, transfers, and plate returns. Please note: DMV Connect is not able to perform any testing or provide birth, death, or marriage certificates.

Snow Branch will host DMV Connect on Friday, January 19, from 10:00 to 3:00, and Fredericksburg Branch will host from 10:00-3:00 on Thursday, February 22.

Appointments are not required—just drop in!

Books are picture perfect way to start school year

The beginning of a new school year always feels like a new chapter, with students from preschool to college starting fresh on a year full of learning and growth, working toward goals, like reading independently, conquering quadratic equations, creating a website, or writing a research paper.  Whatever level you or your student are at, the public library has resources to help you be successful.

Sometimes, it seems like everybody goes hiking and camping in the great outdoors in the sticky, sweltering summertime. Those are the days when the bugs are at their worst, and the heat alone can leave you panting on the side of the trail before an hour is done. For an easier time of it, grab your gear in the spring or fall. Cooler days and mostly bug-free trails make for great hiking adventures, whether by the ocean or in the mountains. November 17 is Take a Hike Day, but any day is a good day to hike.
