We have missed having customers in branches, and we know you have missed being able to browse the collection in person and use library computers. We have some exciting news to share--we are preparing to open branches soon, starting with computer access in the next few weeks! Occupancy and hours will be limited, masks will be required, and there will be other changes to prioritize customer and staff safety.
Curbside pickup will continue, so customers will not need to come into a branch to collect their holds. Branches have been very busy serving curbside pickup customers since the service began on June 24.
We’ve recently been able to expand our customer service by phone. Call us at 540-372-1144 or 804-472-3820 during curbside pickup hours for answers to research questions, reading recommendations, or help with any of our services. You can also reach us by email or chat at librarypoint.org/ask.
During this challenging time, the library has focused on our online services, adding almost 4,000 new eBooks, eAudios, and eMagazines to the collection. We’ve offered a variety of virtual events and learning opportunities, including workshops for job searches and computer use, Music on the Steps, book groups, and video Grow a Reader storytimes and classes. Classes and events will continue to be held virtually, and meeting rooms will not be available.
We’re supporting learning from home with eMaterials, streaming video readalongs, online resources and databases, and live, online tutoring powered by Tutor.com. Of course, your library card is the key to CRRL resources. No wonder we have issued over 3,000 library cards during this period.
We look forward to welcoming you back to our branches. Thank you for your patience and support.
