What is a Sewing Machine?
A sewing machine is used to stitch fabric and other materials together with thread. Home sewing machines are designed for one person to sew items using a single stitch type. The fabric glides in and out of the machine without needles and thimbles, making the process easier and saving time. Learn how to run and use the basic features of our Janome My Style 100 sewing machine. Sign up now to get the sewing machine badge.
To earn the badge, you must:
- Complete 3 hours of training (sessions are 90 minutes in length)
- Successful completion of Levels 1-2
- Offered at the Fredericksburg, Howell, Porter, and Salem Church branches
- Grade 9-Adult
Earning the Sewing Machine badge allows you to reserve the sewing machine to build your own projects in the MakerLab. In exchange for use of the machine in the lab, you also agree to also share information about your project with curious customers.
