View the library's annual Teen Art Show, co-sponsored by It! Magazine, through June 29, in the Headquarters Atrium Gallery. The show is open to students in grades 9-12, who live in the city of Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Stafford or Westmoreland counties.

1st Place:  "Rockstar" by Hillary Inman

A small sampling of artist Cornelia Raring's works will be displayed in the lobby of the Salem Church branch in June. An opening reception will be held Sunday, June 7th from 2:00-4:00. The public is invited. Please come and celebrate a vibrant life and dearly missed friend.

We kick off our Blond Bombshells Film Series on Wednesday, May 27, with a screening of "I'm No Angel" featuring Mae West and Cary Grant at 7pm, in the Headquarters Library theater.

Watercolors by Jim Ellis are on exhibit in the Headquarters Atrium Gallery through May.

National Music Week is May 3-10, and the theme is "Music: Poetry of the Heart."
Piano students of teachers who are members of the National Music Society will perform in the Headquarters Library lobby, Monday, May 4 - Thursday, May 7, 6-8pm.

Come to the Headquarters Library for a screening of Brooklyn Bridge, the last film in our Documentary Film Series, on Wednesday, April 29, 7:00pm. Ken Burns's first film (1981), narrated by David McCullough, captures the physical majesty of this greatest of all achievements of the industrial age, marked by enormous construction problems, equally ingenious solutions, and heroic human achievement. On Wednesday, April 29, at 4pm Eastern Time, spend an hour discovering how to use the Morningstar Investment Research Center to search for stocks, mutual funds, and ETFs.

Join us for Teen Poetry Night, Tuesday, April 28, 7:30-9:00, at the Headquarters Library. Winners of the Teen Poetry Contest will be announced and read from their works. Claudia Emerson, winner of the 2006 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry and current Poet Laureate of Virginia, is our contest judge and host for the evening. Professor Emerson will also be reading from her works.

Digital photographs by Susan Kreig are on exhibit in the Headquarters Atrium Gallery through April.

Artist's Statement:

As a photographer, my two main areas of interest are at different ends of the  movement spectrum- still life and animals. I take still life images because I love the details, and I take animal photographs because I love watching and interacting with animals.
