Library Awarded Rotary Club Grant for Garden
The North Stafford Rotary Club has awarded Central Rappahannock Regional Library a $2,420 grant to fund necessary repairs and upgrade the perimeter fence for the garden at Porter Branch, helping protect crops grown for S.E.R.V.E. (Stafford Emergency Relief Through Volunteer Efforts) food pantry.
Library Awarded Virginia Humanities Grant for "Rappahannock Reads" Project
Virginia Humanities has awarded Central Rappahannock Regional Library a $12,226 grant in support of Rappahannock Reads, a community-wide reading program that brings people together around the same book. Running from September 2026 through May 2027, the program centers around Nature’s Best Hope by best-selling author and ecologist Dr. Douglas W. Tallamy.
Fredericksburg Parent and Family Magazine, 12th Annual Family Favorites Award Winner- July 1, 2026
The readers of Fredericksburg Parent and Family magazine named Central Rappahannock Regional Library as a first-place winner in three categories for the third year in a row–Best Tutoring Service, Best Indoor Activity, and Best Free Things to Do.
Library Awarded Community Foundation Grant for Critical Conservation Project
The Virginia Heritage Fund of the Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region has awarded Central Rappahannock Regional Library a $4,469 grant to begin a project to preserve and repair damaged primary source materials housed in the Virginiana Room, opens a new window of Fredericksburg Branch, opens a new window.
Library Awarded Community Foundation Grant for Summer Reading - March 2026
The Robert Cullen O’Neill Memorial Fund of The Community Foundation has awarded Central Rappahannock Regional Library a $6,000 grant to purchase book prizes for children and teens who reach the 1,000 and 2,000-minute milestones in the library’s 2026 Summer Reading program.
Jenny McGee: VPLDA Staff Member of the Year - March 23, 2026
Jenny McGee, Library on the Go, opens a new window Specialist at Howell Branch, has been honored as the Virginia Public Library Directors Association (VPLDA) Staff Member of the Year for her extraordinary work connecting senior and rural residents with vital library resources. With over 4,000 customer interactions in 2025 and a key role in the launch of a new mobile outreach vehicle, Jenny’s dedication and kindness make her a true "lifesaver" for the community.
