Elevator Replacement Project Begins Soon at Fredericksburg Branch Library

Beginning Monday, September 8, the elevator at the Fredericksburg Branch Library, 1202 Caroline Street, will be out of service while the City of Fredericksburg installs a new elevator.

The replacement project is expected to take at least four weeks, though it may take longer depending on part deliveries and construction progress.

While the library will remain open during the project, there will be no elevator access to any floor. This may create challenges for customers, as well as for staff moving materials between floors.

How can customers help with the transition:

  • Consider using the Library’s curbside pickup service.
  • Visit another CRRL location to pick up holds or return items.
  • Check the Frederickburg Branch's location page and CRRL’s social media for updates.

The elevator was installed in 1990. It is the oldest and most heavily used elevator in the City. Thank you for your patience as we work with the City to complete this vital upgrade.
