Elevator service at Fredericksburg Branch has been restored, as of Friday, October 24. The City of Fredericksburg's Public Works Department began the installation of the new elevator in September.
Fredericksburg Branch Manager Craig Graziano remarks:
"The elevator passed the two necessary inspections in order to open it up to the public again. The project took a little over six weeks to complete, and the library is so grateful to the City of Fredericksburg's Public Works Department for ensuring smooth coordination of the project.
"The library would also like to thank Fredericksburg Branch staff and volunteers for their flexibility and assistance to each other and library customers during this process."
The elevator that was replaced was installed in 1990. It was the oldest and most heavily used elevator in the City.
