My Librarian: No Waiting for Popular Titles with hoopla

By Joe Prince, Collection Development Librarian

Have you ever placed a hold on an eBook or eAudiobook and groaned because the waitlist is so long? It’s quite possible that you can avoid those lines altogether!

In September of 2023, CRRL rolled out access to hoopla,, opens a new window a platform for streaming media - including video, audio, and eBooks. One of the major perks of hoopla is that there is no waiting. Do you want to read No Brainer, opens a new window, the newest book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, but there’s a waitlist a mile long? Do you want to listen to  Alan Gratz’s Two Degrees, opens a new window but keep suspending your hold on Libby because your request never arrives at the right time? No worries on both accounts! You can read or listen or watch immediately.

Even better, hoopla is always adding new titles from major publishers, such as Scholastic ,and from specialty imprint publishers, such as Christian Audio!

So, why wait? Here are titles with long waitlists on Overdrive/Libby that are available right now on hoopla!, opens a new window
