Join us again in 2026 for a new contest!
Calling all graphic novel, comic book, and manga fans! We're hosting a cosplay contest as part of CRRL-Con. We'd love for everyone to come out and participate, so don't miss this exciting opportunity! Check out the details below and get ready to show off your skills.
Catagories:
- Children: Age 0-Grade 5 (Children may be accompanied by an adult, and all entrants will receive a prize.)
- Teens: Grades 6-12
- Adults: Ages 18+
- Groups: Two or more people entering the contest together. Must have a cohesive theme (ex: all members dressed as characters from Labyrinth, or all Marvel superheroes.) No hodgepodge groups will be judged as a group.
Note: If applicable, a contestant may enter twice–in their personal age category and in the group category with the rest of their group. However, they may only receive a prize in one category, so they are encouraged to choose one.
Dress Policy
- Costumes must meet general public dress standards: bathing suit areas must be covered, shoes must be worn. This is a family-friendly event, so please keep that in mind when choosing your costume.
- Costumes and their props must be able to fit through a standard door frame. The library will be crowded, with limited space for movement. (We ask that any makeup and bodypaint is sealed.)
- Prop weapons only–no real weapons allowed. If you have prop weapons with projectiles, do not fire them indoors. (Any prop guns should have orange tape or orange cap.)
Contestants will fill out an entry card and present their cosplay for the judges at the Cosplay Contest Table, in front of the fireplace. This can be done BETWEEN 12:00 AND 2:30, at which point judges will deliberate.
Judging will be based on:
- Attention to detail
- Overall appearance (how well your costume matches your character; contestants are encouraged to bring a reference photo)
- Quality and craftsmanship (if handmade)
- Costumes can be considered handmade if more than 50% is made by hand, or pulled together from random clothing and items, including closet costumes (made from items in your closet or a thrift store).
