Rules for Vanishing by Kate Alice Marshall

By Kari Patrick

Rules for Vanishing, by Kate Alice Marshall, is a horror-filled tale driven by the unbreakable bonds of family and friends.

Once a year, according to the legends, a road appears in the forest just outside of Sara’s town, and those who dare to try to traverse it can enter. A year ago, Sara’s sister, Becca, ran away from home. At least, that’s what everyone believes. Everyone except for Sara. Sara knows that Becca disappeared trying to go down the road. This year, Sara is going to bring her back.

The road isn’t just a journey through your darkest fears. There are challenges to pass. Rules to follow. Sometimes, one’s senses will be tricked. Sometimes, help will be required to move forward. Friends (or are they enemies?) will appear along the way. Maybe it isn’t possible to reach the end of the road at all. And, once you start, you can’t just go back. You get off the road by reaching the end or not at all.
