About This Branch
The current Montross Branch was established with funding from Westmoreland County, private donations, and a fundraising campaign spearheaded by the Friends of the Library. It is a 1,485 square foot building originally constructed in 2002. Montross Branch has a collection of 24,272 items, provides regularly scheduled classes and events for all ages, and has 9 public-access computers. The building is accessible and has two accessible parking spaces in the parking lot.
Montross Branch originally opened in 1981 in an old storefront at Courthouse Square with funding raised by the Montross Junior Women's Club. In 1996, the condition of the building made it necessary to move to temporary quarters in the Moose Lodge on Route 3 near the Square. A building campaign resulted in the new branch.
