Each summer, the Fredericksburg Branch hosts Music on the Steps, a series of live musical performances for all ages on the front steps of the library every Monday night. This year, we celebrated 40 years of delightful summer music!
On Saturday, March 1, 2025, the Central Rappahannock Regional Library presented the Fredericksburg Regional Spelling Bee, where division spelling bee winners from across our region compete to advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Sponsored by Access Eye, Fredericksburg Host Lions Club, and Kiwanis Club of Fredericksburg.

Our Adult Winter Reading Challenge, opens a new window took place from January 1, 2025, to March 31, 2025, while our Level Up with the Library Summer Reading Challenge, opens a new window ran from May 15 to August 15. The results of both programs were impressive: 6,754 participants registered, 17,107 books were read, and a total of 2,523,277 minutes were logged!

The new Google Translate widget provides automatic translation of the website in 16 different languages. All pages, except for the catalog, event calendar, and some databases, will appear in the chosen language.
The Fredericksburg Branch installed a brand new elevator in Fall 2025. The original elevator was installed in 1990, and was the oldest and most heavily used in the city.
At the June 9, 2025, meeting, the Library Board of Trustees approved extended evening hours for the Spotsylvania County locations (Salem Church, Snow, and Towne Centre), including additional evenings.
The Westmoreland Library on the Go van enhances library access for Westmoreland County residents, offering technological resources and traditional library services at community locations.

IdeaSpace, opens a new window has transitioned to a new model of 3D printer, the Bambu Lab A1. Bambu is a top manufacturer of high-quality, fast, and easy-to-use 3D printers. The new Bambu 3D printers are now available for badging appointments, opens a new window.
These eight new Nature Adventure Packs for children ages 8-12 inspire children to explore the natural world. Each pack focuses on a specific nature topic: birds, wildlife, aquatic animals, insects, local/state/national parks, backyards, reptiles, and geology.

When the weather is warm, it's time to go outside! Enjoy the new additions to the Library of Things outdoor game kits, outdoor equipment, and more.
The new kits include the classic outdoor game favorites Giant Yard Dominoes and Ring Toss. Relax with an outdoor hammock, or discover your green thumb with the gardening kit.
These nine new S.T.E.M. kits promote early S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) skills for children ages 5 and up. From circuit boards to programmable coding creatures, children can sharpen their command of vital concepts for our technologically driven world.

The vision of the Central Rappahannock Regional Library is to improve lives through the transformative power of information, learning, and ideas to meet the growing needs of our region. By gathering these essential services in one accessible place, the library works to reduce barriers and ensure all members of our community have the tools they need to thrive.
During the summer, children and teens can expect an extra helping of everything the library offers, like Summer Reading with prizes, special events, scavenger hunts, and grab-and-go activities.
At the Central Rappahannock Regional Library, our partnerships with the Fredericksburg City Public Schools Mobile Cafe and Hub of Hope are incredibly important. Through this partnership, we’re able to bring free, nutritious lunches to children and teens at many of our library locations during the summer.
